Biography
Rev. Oscar Turk, Jr. was born in Greenville, Alabama. He moved to Edison, N.J., where he completed his schooling in the Edison Public Schools. Oscar graduated from J.P. Stevens High School. He graduated from Middlesex County Vocational-Technical School with a specialty in Drafting. He retired from the City of Plainfield, N.J. as Director of Inspections.
Rev. Turk has attended and received training at various National Baptist Conferences of Christian Education. He attended the Middlesex Central Baptist Association of New Jersey Congress of Christian Education Leadership Institutes and the Expository Preaching and Teaching Conference course of WHW Ministries, Inc. He has attended the E. K. Bailey Preaching and Teaching Conference. Rev. Oscar L. Turk, Jr. earned a master’s degree in Biblical Studies from the New Calvary School of Ministry.
He was ordained as a Deacon at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, received his calling to the Ministry in 2001, licensed to preach the Gospel in March 2002. He was ordained into the work of the Gospel Ministry on October 15, 2006, by the authority and order of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Middlesex Central Baptist Association.
After retiring and moving to Townsend, Delaware, he and his wife joined Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, serving as an Associate Minister, Sunday School Director, and adult teacher.
Rev. Turk is married to Viviyanna Foreman Turk; he has two children, Oscar Jr. IV, Rashida S. Turk-Coleman, (Rashan deceased), and two granddaughters, Iadonna S. Coleman, and Rayna Lee Turk.
He is indeed one of God’s children and believes in “rightly dividing the Word.”
Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church installed Rev. Turk as Pastor on Saturday, September 25, 2021.
