Rev. Shirley Owens

Reverend Shirley Owens is an Associate Minister at the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church located in Belvedere, DE., under the pastorate of the Rev. Oscar L. Turk, Jr. She has been a member of Rock of Ages from April 8, 1990, until the present. In addition to preaching the gospel at the Rock, she served as the Chairlady of the Women’s Ministry (L.O.V.E.), member of the Women Warriors Prayer Circle, Intercessory Prayer Team, Past Sunday School Director, and past Director for the Male Chorus. Rev. Shirley was baptized at the age of sixteen but did not accept the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour until the age of twenty-two.

Rev. Shirley preached her initial sermon on January 18, 2004, and was under the tutorage of Pastor Herbert Owens, Sr., until her ordination on July 12, 2009. She desires to continue her religious education at the New Calvary School of Ministry as soon as time permits. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 37 in its entirety.

Rev. Shirley has been married to her high school sweetheart, “Honey” (as she calls him), Herbert, Sr. for forty-nine ½ years, and to this union, God has blessed them with three children:  Shanel (fiancé – Marquette, Sr.), Herb (B.J.) Jr. (Jenny) and Me’Chelle (Donnell). She is the proud Mammers of nine grands – (5 biological and four bonus) and one great-grandson.
